Common has always been an underrated rapper. His laidback and soulful lyrics have never catapulted him to the heights of mainstream hip hop. He reflects on black culture and love with deep understanding and tries to relay a positive message. I first REALLY listened to Common back in 2007 with his sophomore album “Resurrection”; I was instantly hooked by his jazz-rap style. Over the years I have listened to his entire discography and have become more and more impressed. He is definitely in my top 5 rappers of all time list and can only get better.
“Nag Champa (Afrodisiac for the World)” is one of Common’s best songs and is produced by J. Dilla and features Dilla singing on the track. Check it out above.
