Mac Miller: Time Flies feat. Lil B

I recently listened to Mac Miller’s new album “GO:OD AM” and he definitely surpassed my expectations. The album is very solid and features very diverse music/beats that showcases Mac’s affinity for offbeat songs. Mac’s lyricism has even seemed to improve as he flows over these beats.

One of the best songs on the album is “Time Flies” which has Lil B on the track. The beat is quite mellow and I think is one of the best musical productions on the album. Lil B speaks his usual positive message as Mac kills the track. Check it out above and definitely buy Mac Miller’s album.

Slowdive: Crazy For You

Slowdive is band that I recently came across. They specialize in shoegaze with a mix of dream pop and post-punk. The band makes atmospheric music for when you are zoning out for the day. Check it out.

DTMD: A Loan For The Lonely

I discovered hip hop duo DTMD through a Songza playlist and I have been listening to their music for the past few days. Their songs are introspective and features really stellar beats that remind me of that late 90’s early 2000’s feel. They also incorporate a lot of soul samples that only help to enhance the songs.

“A Loan For the Lonely” is a track that tries to provide hope for the lonely hearts out there that are striving for more in their lives. Check it out above.

Wavves: Pony

Wavves will be releasing their fifth album entitled “V” on October 2 and the band has showcased several singles from the record including “Pony”. This song follows in the band’s punk and post-grunge style. Check it out.

Kurt Vile: Pretty Pimpin

Kurt Vile is a musician that always keeps me guessing. He makes wonderful music that specializes in guitar rock and with each album release he seems to keep getting better.  His laidback and soft vocals can turn a stressful day into a moment of zen.

“Pretty Pimpin” is a release from Vile’s new album “B’lieve I’m Goin Down”. Check it out above.

The Twilight Sad: Drown So I Can Watch

The Twilight Sad is a band that specializes in melancholy and doom-filled songs. They have developed a reputation as a definitive post-punk band. The Cure have even noticed them and did a cover of their song “There’s A Girl in the Corner”.

“Drown So I Can Watch” is a moody piece that features a downbeat sound that is only punctuated by James Graham’s vocals. Check it out.

Mac Miller: Clubhouse

Mac Miller’s new album “Good Am” will be released this friday and it sounds like it is going to be a record to reckon with. Mac has truly stepped up his game since his debut a few years ago. His music production has become quite memorable and his lyrics are in a whole other category by it self.

“Clubhouse” is a track that showcases Mac’s eccentricity with an offbeat sound produced by Rick Bricks of (THC). Check it out above.

Ras Kass: Goldyn Chyld

You can always tell when a song is produced by DJ Premier; it just has that distinct flavor to it. On this track Ras Kass delivers a lyrical torrent over this stellar production by Premier. Check it out above.
