Gregory Alan Isakov: Second Chances

Folk music can be hit or miss sometimes. Many bands and artists create cheesy or melodramatic music that leads to their inevitable dismissal after a while. But then you have the ones that really say something that immediately resonates with you. Gregory Alan Isakov is one of those.

“Second Chances” is a great song with its focus on being forgiven for past indiscretions. Check it out.

Death Cab for Cutie: Scientist Studies

Death Cab for Cutie is one of my favorite bands of all time. Their music really grabbed a hold of me and has not let go. Ben Gibbard’s melancholy lyrics has always drawn me in, to the point where I feel the band is at their best, when sad. Kinda like Brand New.

“Scientist Studies” is one of the best tracks from the band’s album “We Have The Facts And We’re Voting Yes”. It starts off kinda quiet then eventually erupts in distortion. Check it out.

Frank Ocean: Pyramids (live)

Frank Ocean released his phenomenal second studio album “Blonde” a few months ago to critical acclaim. While fans wait for the tour, here is an outstanding live performance of “Pyramids”. Check it out.

Moving Mountains: Alleviate

Moving Mountains’ produces some of their greatest songs in the early 10’s that had the band grow in popularity. They mixed post-hardcore with post-rock and emo that displayed the band’s range. “Alleviate” is one of their best songs from their second album “Waves”. Check it out.

Balance and Composure: Postcard

Balance and Composure released their third album “Light We Made” this year and it found the band changing their sound. The record is more melodic and is not aggressive as previous albums. One of the best tracks from the album is “Postcard” with its catchy chorus and guitar riff. Check it out.

Nat King Cole: The Christmas Song

Christmas is almost here and I have been trying to get into the spirit by listening to holiday music, whenever I can. One of my favorite song’s is from the incomparable Nat King Cole.

“The Christmas Song” is a classic track that will be forever played in generations to come. The song never feels old or outdated. It is nostalgic and endearing, which makes you instantly become reflective about life. Check it out.
