I have raved constantly about how much The Twilight Sad means to me. The Scottish band has provided the soundtrack to many of my late-night escapades. Their music has always been a place of solace for me when I am feeling down or frustrated. “Chewing Gum” is a fiery song from the band’s album It Won/t Be Like This All The Time. The guitar really clashes with the drums on this one. Check it out below.
Over the years, The Game has established himself as one of the best rappers from the West Coast. He has managed to drop one hit song after the other and “West Side” is another one. The track has a hard-hitting beat that matches Game’s aggressive flow. Check it out below.
“Our Plague” is a lovely dream-pop song from Nothing’s album Tired of Tomorrow. I really enjoy Dominic Palermo’s whispery vocals on this track as well as the quiet guitars looping around it. Check it out below.
Shoegaze band Nothing’s “The Dead Are Dumb” has a Twin Peaksesque feel with its reverberating bassline throughout the song. It is both unsettling and wonderful to hear. Check out the track below.
I am really hyped for the new DIIV album that is coming out in a few months and I have been listening to the band’s discography once again. “Dust” is a standout track from the album Is the Is Are with its fantastic riffs. Check it out below.
“Living Single” is one of my favorite songs from Big Sean. The beat which was produced by Camobi is super chill and I like Big Sean’s flow on the song. I always felt that Big Sean had the potential to be a truly great rapper if only he stepped up on his lyrics. He has the same delivery as fellow slow rapper Mase but the lyrics can be a struggle to listen to.
“Good Morning” is a grand opener to Kanye West’s Graduation album. The track samples Elton John’s “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” and has that familiar soulful production that we have come to expect from Kanye. Check it out below.
