Editors: All Sparks

The British post-punk band Editors have always been a personal favorite of mine. They came to prominence during the 00’s post-punk revival scene with bands like Bloc Party and Interpol. They have managed to keep releasing albums and touring over the past decade.

“All Sparks” is one of the best tracks from the band’s catalog. It features a prominent guitar riff and danceable drumbeat that is furtherly heightened by Tom Smith’s baritone vocals. Check it out.

Interpol: All The Rage Back Home

About a month and a half ago I found out that Interpol was releasing a new album this year. Interpol has been my favorite band since their debut album which I have listened to at least once a week since I first heard it many years ago. Their intricate guitar work and melancholic sound completely changed my life and now I always go back to their music for inspiration.

Interpol’s new album “El Pintor” will be released in September and the first single from that record is “All The Rage Back Home” which is a return to form as the band draw forth on their initial blended post-punk guitar sound. Check it out.

The National: Graceless (SNL live)

The National are rapidly becoming more well-known after their many performances on several TV shows including The Mindy Project and The Simpsons. Their music is being played everywhere which is furthering their reach of grabbing listeners who probably wouldn’t listen to them.

I have been a fan of this band for a few years now and just like Interpol their music provided a cathartic experience to my life. I spent many days listening to “Boxer” and “High Violet” in their entirety and never became bored from it.

The National recently had a music guest spot on Saturday Night Live with host Lena Dunham. Their performance of their song “Graceless” is quite amazing especially with Matt Berninger shouting at the end. Check it out.
